Let Us Introduce You To Strucket
Tell us your name, and a bit about your tribe
My name is Kelly Lavery, mum of Imogen (14 years), Marley (11 years) and Jude (5 years).
What is your business?
My business is called Strucket – Strainer meet Bucket. Just like a normal bucket (but better), the Strucket makes soaking simple and clean. Pop your items in to soak and when you return simply pull up the strainer, separate the items from the water and then drain using the outer plug without ever touching the water or the toxic mess in it!
Why and when did you start your business?
I registered my company in 2016, after being inspired to invent Strucket due to the birth of my son in 2015. Putting my hand in a bucket of soaking nappies was like putting it in a dirty toilet! I hated it and wanted a better way... when there wasn't one, I created the Strucket!
What is the best business and / or parenting tip you have been given?
I have 3 Tips I would give new mums,
- Your happiness is most important - it allows you to be the best mother you can. Make sure you allocate time to do the things you love. Even if it’s just sitting out in the sun and having a coffee... make it happen.
-
Don’t sweat the small stuff - if the house is a mess and it’s all just too much...walk out the door and leave it all behind for an hour or two. When you return, you’ll cope with it in a better frame of mind.
-
Get down to your children’s level...they grow so fast, they really do. Most of the time the one thing they want is your attention. By getting down to their level and speaking with them, ready a book or playing for just 20 minutes you will have filled their bubble and they will be happy for the rest of the day.
How do you stay sane while dealing with the stresses of business and family?
I think this relates to both business and motherhood, sometimes when it all feels to much walk away from what you are doing and take a breather. Sometimes there is nothing like having a cup of tea in the sunshine to elevate the stress and centre yourself so you can pull yourself together and keep on going!
Tell us something funny that has happened in the last few months
My son and his love of making “soup” for his sisters…..he will create this from anything he can find to chop and stir in the fridge! He gets terribly upset if they don’t taste it and I love that they play along, even if it means they have to spit it out when he isn’t looking!!
